What an awesome day the 2012 Sydney Royal Easter Rat and Mouse Show was! We came home with 19 awards and a trophy for best rat kitten! I was interviewed by Dr Harry Cooper for his segment on Better Homes and Gardens, which was a surprise! I got to talk to lots of people about rats an mice an how wonderful they are, and see my friends. Congrats to everyone who placed and it was great to see you all!

Well it's almost that time of year again, yup, the Sydney Royal Easter Show! :D The Australian Rodent Fanciers Society of NSW will be at the show on the 10th of April in the domestic animals pavillion (the Wynn Pavillion), if you want to come and have a chat or see some mice and rats on display and learn more about them then come along! I am really anticipating the show, I'm super excited! :)
I'm also getting around to updating this site finally! I've been so busy running around I haven't had the time to sit down and update the info.

Sorry folks, were still shut to the public.

Hi everyone,
sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but Mushroom Rodentry will be temporarily shutting down, we are still continuing to breed rats and mice however we will rarely be selling any.
Those of you on reserve lists will still have a chance to receive some rodent companions, however we are no longer taking expressions of interest. Sorry for any inconveniences, if you are still after rats and mice as pets you can look under our links section for breeders or we will happily send you links/contact details for any rodentries closer to you if possible.
We are still happy to answer any questions you may have about rats and mice, or about our rodentry. We will still update the site with what breeding plans we have, litters that have arrive, and rats we have kept or lost. There are some breeders we are working with on larger scale projects and we will continue to do so, we will also continue to show our animals and attend social gatherings to mingle and discuss rats and mice with others who share the same interests. We will also continue to do displays when offered to give people the chance to see rats and mice first hand, and to get any information about the keeping of rats and mice as pets or any other enquiries.
We are sorry for any inconveniences, we hope to be selling to the public again by end of next year - mid 2013.

On the 2nd of November, our heart rat (special rat), S.P.G. turned three years old! He was the first rat we ever kept from any of our litters, he has always had a special place in our hearts. S.P.G. is a super friendly, people loving, licky cheeky boy who stole our hearts. We have many fond memories with him, he means so much to us and for him to turn three, that really is an achievement for a rattie :)

Also, our girl Mars gave birth to eleven chubby pinkies on S.P.G's b'day. Congrats Mars and Snickers, they are gorgeous!

Happy birthday to our big buff baby! <3

It's on the 5th of November, at the Uniting Church Hall in Ermington, NSW. It's a great day to come and have a chat to other rodent fanciers, some may have stuff for sale too :)

I shall have ratties for sale, maybe some meecers, and my rats and mice there for show.

What a big day! Today was the Petbarn Pets Day Out, thy hold them twice a year. There are stalls, games and prizes to be won, it's a lovely day out :) I went along with two other members of the AusRFS NSW to promote the club, chat to people about rats and mice, offer some tips and let people handle and pat my animals. It was fun :D

I also got a chance to pick up my new lilac girl from Andy, I named her Lollipop as there were free lollipops in the store for kids :P She is precious! Our boy Bagel has also gone to Andy's to have a bit of va-va-voom with a lady mouse. I anticipate the arrival of a litter in the near future :)

I had such a great day, next time I will try to encourage more people to come along! :D
Oh, and I also joined the Newcastle Fuzzy Pack, even though I don't own a ferret, but I lov them to pieces and really want one! Timmm, I want a ferret monster, or two ;P

Hi all :)
Just an announcement, those who are on the reservation list, I will be contacting you soon. Minty and Ginger's litters are now six weeks of age, we have made our decision on these litters as to who to keep and so we will now be getting in contact with you one at a time to see if you are interested in babies from these litters. Pippi's litter will be posted up in a few more days once they reach six weeks old.
The list operated on a first-in-best-dressed basis, we will contact the person first on the list, then second, etc, etc. We only have three girls available for adoption, one person on the reserve list has specified two, and one other is maybe taking the remaining girl, however, we are having a hard time choosing which we shall keep and one of Ginger's girls we were going to keep has developed signs of respiratory illness and has lost condition. We are holding onto her to see if she recovers, if she fails to recover we will take her sister, which means only two girls available. If you are after girls, dont' fret! We have four litters that are maturing nicely, all black girls, some agouti boys, all sweet and pudgy :D
Don't panic if we don't contact you immediately, we are going through the list one at a time. We have posted the bubs under the 'Rodents For Sale' tab along with health, weight and temperament descriptions. Once those on the reservation list have chosen, remaining bubs will be posted for sale on here, and on rodent forums, they may even come along with

Update 06/10/2011

Hi everyone :)
I've just updated the photos on some of the litter pages, Pippi's baby photos are incomplete as I got confused between which bub was which! Having identical babies can be very annoying!
The bubs are all doing fantastic! Minty, Ginger and Pippi's bubs were all weaned at four weeks of age, they are super adorable and very inquisitive! In three weeks time they will be available for adoption :)

Violet, Ruby and Adora's litters are well. Adora stopped producing milk so her babies were moved in with Violet's litter and are now thriving! Ruby neglected hers, she wanted nothing to do with them, continuously kicked them out of the litter so we placed her bubs in with Boo, our blue girlies who also has a litter of her own. All bubs are doing fine :) Boo's litter is adorable, looks like we have black and agouti bubs, two seem to be facially marked. We look forward to them growing up!

We've also had a mouse litter arrive! Humbug gave birth on the 2nd of October, she has had ten babies and her and the bubs are doing well. Pie is an excellent nanny and is helping Humbug out :) We will be taking two tan females from this litter, the rest will be available for adoption. Eight females and two males will be for sale when the babies reach roughly 5-6 weeks of age :)

We are still after photos entries for our Calendar Comp! If you have a ratty photo, send it to us! You could have your rats picture in our calendar at the end of the year! :D

Yes, I know, I have been super slack with the Play Rat of the Month calendar competition. I need to make up for all the months without entries. So what I want you, the readers, to do is send in your favourite rattie photos! For the last few months we need entries, instead of the public voting for, I will assemble a small voting panel and they shall decide the winners for the last few months and this month. This is a one off thing, just to catch up!
At the end of the year we will be getting calenders printed off featuring the winners of this competition! Winners will receive a calendar as a prize, free of post too!

If you would like to submit an entry, please send your photos to my e-mail address mushroomrattery@live.com.au With your entry, also submit your name, your rats name.

Get your entries in ladies and gentleman, and you could win a calender featuring your beloved rattie! Entries close on the 15th of October for September and previous months! Entries for October will begin on the 1st of October and end on the 31st of October. I

After much cussing and cursing at my laptop and my camera, they have both finally decided to cooperate, which means....

BABY RATTIE PHOTOS ARE UP!!! :D

Except for Pippi's litter, the photos looked great on the itty bitty camera screen, but turned into shiny furry smears when loaded onto my computer, so I endeavour to take more photos tomorrow!

I also had troubles with Weebly, I had FINALLY loaded up all my photos when it crashed and went 'sorry, we are having technical issues'. Oh goody.

So finally photos are up, I've started on the information sectiona dn I really need to get back on track with the Play Rat Calendar Competition! Eeeep, it is so behind!
Also,

VIOLET HAS GIVEN BIRTH TO SIX BABIES! :D

Exciting! We have a new litter! They were born on the 19th, there are six in total, four boys and two girls (yep, more testicles than flossies again :/). We can't wait for them to get bigger, the other litters have all opened their eyes, they are playing, exploring and discovering. It is so freakin' cute I could just vomit up rainbows and glitter! Squeeeeee!!! :D

Scritches,
~Elly
